Imagine surprising your loved one with a lovable stuffed animal that not only brings a smile to their face, but also serves as a cuddly reminder of your affection. These adorable gifts, with its soft fur and endearing expression, are perfect for snuggling up on cozy nights and add a touch of joy to any room. These tiny creatures are a delightful way to show you care for the special people in your life and can even make a dull day a bit brighter.
As Valentine's Day draws near, the tradition of gift giving will take center stage with many eager to express their love and affection through thoughtful gifts. The National Art Honor Society at Washingtonville High School decided to make the job of finding the perfect present easier for students, and even faculty, by fundraising their own personalized Valentine’s Day furry friends called Valentine-O-Grams.
This fundraiser has been a highlight for many at Washingtonville High School due to its convenience and electrifying excitement on days near Valentine’s Day. It starts out with the officers deciding which cuddly friends to purchase, then selling these animals during lunch periods, followed by sorting to make sure every animal has correct information and finally distributing.
Members of the Art Honor Society volunteer their time to help with this fundraiser. Vice President, Jack Eubank, explained that his favorite part of this event is seeing his peers support this society. He feels this fundraiser is a great way to raise money for further events and opportunities in NAHS.
Once the stuffed animals are personalized with tiny notes and a classroom number of their valentine, they are distributed during the first period on a day leading up to Valentine’s Day. Alexandra Davis, a Washingtonville High School sophomore stated, “I bought a couple of stuffed animals for my friends because I want to show them that I think and care about them.”
Within the National Art Society, many claim it is a supportive and creative group that is always wanting to engage their community with ways to make people’s days better. The money fundraised from Valentine-O-Grams goes to buying supplies for the art show in the spring, gifts for the seniors when they graduate and hopefully for more events in the near future.
Many people within Washingtonville High School enjoy this fundraiser because it is a way to demonstrate their love and affection towards their friends, but also are pleased to support an honor society that will also give back to their community.
