Unleash The Love

Updated: Nov 6

Entering the Blooming Grove Humane Society, one immediately experiences an instant boost of serotonin. Dozens of cats and dogs staring through the bars of their cages long to greet visitors with open paws. Their wagging tails, eager barking and meowing make it difficult to walk past without feeling the desire to take them all home.

According to the ASPCA, roughly 6.2 million animals are brought into shelters each year, but only 3.2 million are adopted. This overwhelming amount of animals requires the shelters to bring in a large number of volunteers that they don't always have available. “The more people that our animals are exposed to, the better their mental health is,” asserted Beth, a dedicated staff member from the Blooming Grove Humane Society.

Two of the most beloved dogs at the shelter are Cleo and Clyde. These energetic Alaskan Klee Kais are filled with love to share with their future owners. Cleo is about 6 years old and Clyde is about 3 years old and are thought to possibly be mother and son, according to the primary caretaker of the dogs at the shelter. This doggy duo is friendly with other dogs and they are to be adopted together.

The Blooming Grove Humane Society is filled with dogs and cats that need a forever home. This shelter welcomes all animals with open arms and gives them a place to thrive while they find their forever families. In order for the shelter to stay running smoothly, volunteers must be readily available. Volunteering at an animal shelter means socializing with the animals, cleaning cages, and taking them on walks.

What other ways can you help the Blooming Grove Humane Society? Well, the shelter accepts donations of blankets, towels, dog and cat food, laundry detergent and many other products. Having these products on hand are important in making the animals feel at home.

Join the Blooming Grove Humane Society on November 8 for their “Paws and Pages” cat adoption event. Come meet some adorable cats and find your forever best friend. This event will take place from 3-5 p.m. at the Moffat Library Meeting Room.
