“I always love to just lie in my bed and take the day off,” Kiera Farina, a senior at Washingtonville High School, shared. “There’s nothing better than a good snow day.” Kiera explains that her favorite thing to do during a snow day is to relax and just allow the day to go in any direction. One activity she mentioned was taking her dog out in the snow to run around and play.

What is a better excuse than a snow day? “When I found out we had a snow day I was so happy because it meant I didn't have to go out in the cold.” Many students would probably agree with Kiera’s sentiment. This time of year it is always dreadful to get out of bed and drag through the cold winds, the snow, and the slush. Being given the day to stay warm and dry is an opportunity no one wants to give up.

“My favorite thing about a snow day is that I get to catch up on shows I might've missed due to school work and other after school activities,” Keilyn Rodriguez, another senior at Washingtonville High School, expressed. “Getting to sleep in instead of waking up early like you had anticipated is the best feeling,” she exclaimed. Keilyn loves snow days because they give her and countless other students a much needed break and a chance to take a breath this winter season.

For the people wondering what they could do during the next snow day, here are some ideas. Watch a good movie, there are tons of really great movies just waiting to be watched. Streaming services like Netflix and Hulu put things in the categories to really narrow down the search. They make it so easy for consumers to find a good fit for them. Don't be afraid to try something new!

Read a book! Now's the time to experiment. Pick up that book that's been sitting on a bookshelf for who knows how long. Read a few pages, maybe it'll cure the boredom for a few hours. For the people who don't have many books lying around, don't worry! There are many sites that give the public access to a large variety of free ebooks, such as the Moffat Library!

Maybe even brave the cold and go sledding! Some people prefer snowboarding or skiing. There are many hills around Washingtonville that are good for sledding. There is even one at Washingtonville High School! Just go to the upper fields, where baseball and soccer take place and find a hill that's almost perfectly designed for sledding! Don't forget to bundle up and bring someone along to maximize the fun!

Remember that when snow is coming wear pajamas inside out and backwards, place a spoon under a pillow, and flush ice cubes down the toilet! Superstitions may not be guaranteed to work, but it's worth a shot anyways right?
